As a result of unprecedented growth in recent years Voortman embarked on a new expansion to the existing machine shop and assembly facilities. This growth has been driven by Voortman’s global sales and marketing efforts and the diverse range of products we have to offer to various markets throughout the world.
The new addition of 100,000 sq/ft will primarily be used to assemble the additional products recently added to the product line. These are the new Shotblasting systems, Plate lines, Structural Burning systems the Structural Drill lines.
A further expansion to the facility and offices will be completed by fall of October 2008.
AISC recently requested leading suppliers of technology to the industry to present recent changes and also suggest look at the future of structural steel fabrication. Our Adrian Morrall , President of Voortman Corporation presented innovations that the Voortman Engineering group had designed and implemented in recent years and also future developments in the pipeline.
The presentations were to educate the industry on the latest technology available. The number one message was clearly the advancements in how some machinery manufactures can now communicate and hand down critical data to the next stage in the fabrication process. Also discussed at length as was the BOM data from the Tekla 3D steel detailing model to Fabtrol and then fabrication status back to the model.
Also presented was how the 3D design or detailing information from the model is directly feed CNC machines. The technology being developed on materials handling and placement, automated welding, and the scribing and marking functionality demonstrate.
Many fabricators visited the Voortman booth after the presentation to see firsthand the technology discussed.
In conjunction with the recent addition and also the sales growth a teaching center for both software and maintenance has been installed. You can now bring your laptop and we can load on the same software that will be used to run your new Voortman system. An emphasis is made on the on-line diagnostic capability and web cam monitoring. These tools have dramatically reduced the time to correct an issue and the days to rush out a technician are a thing of the past. We are proud to say we fix 90% of issues within minute and without the visit of a technician which means more uptime.
With our ever increasing customers base in North and South America Voortman Corporation has again expanded various departments within the organization. A 5000 sq ft addition has been added to house the parts department at the Manteno facility. The additional area allows us to not only have additional space for the parts held in Manteno but also provides an area where our in house technicians can repair and test equipment as required.
The recent expansion of the service and parts departments at the Manteno facility, and also the growth in new sales. Voortman Corporation is pleased to announce the addition of Tina Shields as Office Manager. Tina brings with her a strong business background from her time spent in the commercial real estate market. The day to day running of the4 office will now be left in the very capable hand of Tina and we all wish her all the best in her new role.
We are pleased to announce the addition of Erik Tempelman as the “Director of Technical Services”. Erik brings with him over 20 year experience with the Voortman product line and his is proficient in multiple languages which will assist greatly with our continued growth in South America and the Quebec area. Erik will direct the day to day events of the service technicians based out of Manteno Illinois, liaise with Engineering, vendor and oversee the expanded parts department.
We welcome Keith Hefferan to the Voortman Sales team. Keith has over 15 years experience in the Structural Steel fabrication market. Keith also served as a board member on the Structural Fabricators of New England association. Keith will work from the Voortman Southern Regional office based in Corpus Christi, Texas. Keith’s knowledge of the industry will allow Voortman Corporation to continue to grow in the Southern states.
Recently we've added this new saw to our product range. This band saw makes short work of bundles of steel and heavy profiles. The VB1550 has a working range of up to 1.500 x 600 mm and is by far the largest saw in our sawing range!
The VB1550 is a part of our VB-Range of horizontal band saws. Like the other saws in this range, the VB1550 is provided with a material sensor, hydraulic blade tension, powered rotary brush to remove swarf and hydraulic clamps on both sides of the saw band, with the saw band being lubricated with mist coolant.
